Nodal Market Implementation Surcharge Approved by PUCT

At the Aug. 24 Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) open meeting, the PUCT approved the implementation of a nodal market surcharge of $.0663 per MWh (assessed to generators based on their generation ratio share) with language and modifications as proposed by ERCOT.

On August 16, ERCOT proposed to the PUCT a method of assessing the nodal surcharge to Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSEs) representing generation resources. PUCT commissioners and ERCOT stakeholders reviewed responses to the proposal at the recent Aug. 24 PUCT Open Meeting and discussed issues related to RMR and OOME units. ERCOT informed the Commission that a process to address RMR would be in place by Oct.1, and Chairman Hudson supported the ERCOT proposed formula.
