ERCOT Names Richard Morgan Interim Chief Information Officer
ERCOT has named Richard Morgan to serve as interim chief information officer (CIO), effective April 1. The search for a permanent CIO is continuing. Morgan has been with ERCOT as a contractor since December 2008. He has more than 30 years of service to Fortune 500 companies, including experience in large-scale system project management, strategic systems planning, business applications development and implementation, large-scale computer center implementations, and client-server system implementations and migrations.
Morgan was previously senior vice president of data center operations with MBNA America in Dallas. While with MBNA, he served in management roles over infrastructure and strategic systems projects and change management. Morgan has a bachelor’s degree in math and computer science from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in management science from the University of Texas at Dallas.
