Transition to Nodal Markets and Start-up Testing
Transition to Nodal Markets and Start-up Testing, an eight-hour one-day course, presents a high-level overview of the steps ERCOT and market participants (MPs) will take to transition from the current zonal market to the new nodal market as defined by the Nodal Transition Plan. This course introduces participants to the Nodal Transition Plan and emphasizes the various stages of the transition, as well as the roles and responsibilities of ERCOT and MPs in testing and implementation of nodal systems.
This course will cover the following:
- Introduction to the Nodal Transition Plan
- Transition Plan Principles
- Management of the Transition Plan
- Transition Plan Tracks
- System Testing and Nodal Market Implementation
- EDS Release Testing
- EDS 1 - Data and Telemetry
- EDS 2 - State Estimator and Real-Time Security Analysis
- EDS 3 - Real-Time Markets
- EDS 4 - Day-Ahead Markets
- Market Readiness
- Transition Communication Plan
Prerequisites: ERCOT Nodal 101
Note: Attendees are required to take the above prerequisite course. The Transition to Nodal Markets and Start-up Testing course will be taught assuming that the student possesses a thorough understanding of the information covered in the prerequisite courses listed above prior to attending.
This course is only available as a self-paced web-based training module. The course may be accessed via the Learning Management System (LMS).
This presentation is primarily designed for MPs directly involved with system testing and implementation of the Nodal Market Transition; specifically, specialists that will implement or interface with nodal systems on behalf of ERCOT or market participants, or be responsible for testing nodal systems in any capacity.
The course is intended for all MPs who are part of the testing of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), transmission element parameter verification, network security analysis, transmission constraint management, security constrained economic dispatch (SCED) and load frequency control (LFC) including real time dispatchers, controllers, operations support engineers, engineering technicians, accountants, IT staff, and others.
